This year, we will be holding regular education sessions in the SEMA Data Treehouse (Booth #20678) in Central Hall!

We were asked last year about education sessions for product data/content, what to look for, strategies to meet customer requirements, what's important for eCommerce, and other matters. We found, however, that having them as single sessions away from the Show floor made them difficult for many of manufacturer and reseller members to attend.

With the SEMA Show and PRI Show coming up and as the team prepares for these events, tomorrow's Ask the Experts session (Friday, Sept 27 at 10am PDT) will be the last one for this year. We will kick them back up again in the new year!

CSF Cooling BMW S54 Swap E36 High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator – Part No. 7211
CSF's industry-leading reputation and deep knowledge of high-performance BMW cooling systems offered an edge when designing such a unique cooling system. Combining the experience from producing the best cooling systems for the E36 and E46, CSF was able to design and produce an innovative solution that covers the widest range of S54 swap customers possible. Because the S54 requires a much more robust oil cooling system than the E36's S52, CSF made special provisions to fit two different race spec oil coolers. To do this, the height of the radiator was reduced slightly so the oil coolers can fit under it in a factory style location. The radiator includes mounting brackets which can be adjusted to fit both oil coolers (CSF #8032 & #8240). CSF also includes brackets for an electric fan conversion. These brackets are designed to fit a single 16 inch SPAL Fan (not included). While it is possible to retain a clutch type fan, it is much easier to convert to an electric fan on top of the performance benefits.

By logging into your account, you can now click on Brand Change Log on the left navigation to get three critical pieces of information for any of your approved brands who made a change to their dataset:

Though we do our best to communicate to you the latest updates and what-to-expect in our eNews and in the Users Group meetings, it could be months between when we announce it and when you are ready to make use of it.

For instance, 3 new features are going live this and next week with Custom Exports Builder! You can now add a column of static values to your templates -- helpful with those "Battery Y/N" required columns; you'll be able to click to include all asset types vs selecting one at a time; and finally, you can choose to split out the product attributes into their own columns!

So we're launching a series of live "Ask the Experts" sessions that any SEMA Data member can join. It'll be an opportunity to enhance your knowledge of all the features and services available to you as a member, and grow your skillset as content creators and receivers.

As the attendees joined the Meetup this year, there was definitely a sense of excitement and whiffs of concern for what would be covered, in particular, the new set of requirements that promised to raise the bar on attaining the SEMA Data Excellence status.

If a reseller is requesting our product information in PIES format, what does it mean when I'm being asked to fill out a loadsheet, too?

We understand how confusing and frustrating this can be. Loadsheets, that may also be called Merchandiser Sheets, are often used by larger resellers where processing product information through PIES XML datasets by a data team may be separate from the sales and category managers. This occurs when required information is outside the accommodations of the PIES content.

Most common fields outside the Standard include: contracted pricing, hazardous material specifics, market segmentation, battery information, reseller specific SKU reference, etc.

This gives you an extremely consistent, and free-flowing path that enables the HSP Cold Air Intake to out-perform other intakes on the market. The HSP Cold Air Intake is also paired with the HSP Diesel style heatshield box. The heatshield box allows us to keep the heated-up engine air out of the intake. We want this because cooler air is more dense and denser air creates more power.

Please join us in congratulating Joe Sepeda, SEMA Data Product Catalog Manager, for being selected to serve on the Auto Care Association's Technology Standards Committee!

The Technology Standards Committee (TSC) develops industry-specific product data standards and best practices. The Committee is comprised of volunteer leaders who provide input and guidance to the board and staff, and act as an industry sounding board. Additionally, TSC oversees the management and publishing of the Product Information Exchange Standard (PIES), the Aftermarket Catalog Exchange Standard (ACES), which has been adopted worldwide.

As a committee member of TSC, Joe hopes to bring to the table the unique needs of the specialty aftermarket regarding its product content and the audience it serves.

Starting on Monday, November 1, we kick off the week with our Users Group Meeting at 3:00pm in Room N253 in North Hall. Come mingle and catch up with the SEMA Data team and your fellow members over refreshments, while hearing about what you can expect in the new year.

On Wednesday, November 3, at 2:00pm in Room N254 of North Hall, we sit down for an interview with Albert Reda, who has launched multiple performance brands globally, to discuss Pandemic Pivots and How Companies Adjusted Strategies and Tactics to meet the challenges spurred by the pandemic. With his 25 years in the automotive industry, Albert understands the problems that many companies face today in manufacturing and with customer management.

ACES bed type update VCdb removes Styleside Stepside

Auto Care updated the VCdb for bed type configuration table.

As you may know, SEMA Data subscribes to Auto Care's Vehicle Configuration Database (VCdb) to help you create ACES records (i.e., vehicle fitment data for your parts). The database is updated every month and each month there are always updates and changes to be aware of and remap your data if needed.

The latest change in the VCdb has done away with the "Styleside" and "Flareside" bed type options. Styleside was a marketing term used by Ford for its regular flat-sided bed on their pickup trucks; and Flareside was used for beds with the wheel well arches on the outside of the bed, leaving the interior cargo box area of the bed perfectly rectangular.

Auto Care uses the term "fleetside" to describe truck bed option with the flat-sided exterior and wheel well arches within the carbo box area, and "stepside" for the truck bed option with the wheel well arches outside the cargo box area.

The Covid-19 era for us at Vibrant Performance has been whirlwind, and the last 7-8 months have been the most difficult.

Like many, we have struggled to manage all aspects involving our supply chain; most especially, the sharp increase in cost to move product and our material costs, which have climbed sharply since the start of this calendar year.

Ideally, we would’ve already presented you with price increases, but the goalposts on our all of our accumulated costs has shifted dozens of times these first three quarters of 2021. As such, we opted to delay on a price increase to enable us the time necessary to get a solid grasp on the new realities of where our accumulated costs have now settled to, along with not burdening you, our customer, with an array of multiple price increase throughout Covid-19.
