Understanding Bronze and Silver Data Scores — and What They Mean for Resellers

The SEMA Data Scorecard was created to measure the quality and completeness of product and technical data shared by manufacturers. While Gold and Platinum levels represent the highest standards of Data Excellence, Bronze and Silver scores provide important insight for resellers on how to view and use the data they receive.

Bronze-level data means the manufacturer has taken the crucial first step of standardizing and sharing their product information through SEMA Data. At this level, core details such as part numbers, basic descriptions, and essential attributes are available, but additional enrichment like digital assets, extended attributes, and application data may still be incomplete. Importantly, because score thresholds at this level require 95% completion to advance to the next tier, some Bronze brands may already have many Silver- or even Gold-level fields completed but may not meet all requirements to move up. This shows effort and progress, even if the formal tier is still Bronze.

Silver-level data builds on Bronze by offering greater completeness and accuracy across descriptions, fitment, and digital assets. As with Bronze, the 95% threshold applies, so some Silver brands may already be strong in certain areas while still working to round out others. For resellers, Silver data can be more confidently used to populate eCommerce sites, catalogs, and POS systems, knowing it is approaching industry best practices.

All the scored fields can be checked for completeness by clicking on the Scorecard Rating links for any approved brand on the Brand Data page in PIMS.

For resellers, Bronze and Silver should be seen as part of a manufacturer’s data journey. Bronze demonstrates initial commitment and foundational readiness, while Silver reflects meaningful improvement. Both provide usable data today—while signaling that further enrichment is coming.

By understanding these score levels and the 95% threshold, resellers can set realistic expectations, build better product listings, and maintain collaborative conversations with manufacturers. This approach ensures resellers benefit from current data while supporting manufacturers in their progress toward Gold and Platinum.
